Protecting the Deep Since 2009
Beneath the surface lies a world of astonishing complexity — ancient coral citadels, vast kelp forests, and creatures that glow in the eternal dark. We exist to protect it all.
Our Mission
The Deep Blue Alliance unites marine biologists, policymakers, and coastal communities to safeguard ocean biodiversity. From the twilight zone to the coral shallows, we deploy research-driven conservation where it matters most.
Our approach integrates cutting-edge genomic monitoring, satellite tracking of fishing vessels, and community-led marine protected areas. Every initiative is rooted in rigorous science and designed to outlast a single generation.

Active Projects
Our flagship initiative maps and restores bleached reef systems across the Indo-Pacific using lab-grown coral micro-fragments. In three years, we've re-established over 12,000 square metres of living reef — home to 340+ species.

Nations involved
Satellite tagging and acoustic monitoring of humpback migration corridors from Antarctica to the tropics. Real-time data feeds inform shipping lane adjustments to reduce ship-strike fatalities.
Partnering with fishing villages across Southeast Asia to establish sustainable harvest zones, mangrove nurseries, and community-managed marine protected areas.
Sequencing the DNA of 500 deep-sea species to build the most comprehensive open-access marine genomic database. Empowering researchers worldwide to identify new compounds for medicine and track population health.

Our Scientists
Chief Marine Biologist
Twenty years studying Indo-Pacific reef systems. Lead author on the landmark 2021 Global Coral Resilience Index. Pioneered micro-fragmentation techniques now used in 14 countries.
Director of Pelagic Research
Specialist in cetacean migration and bio-acoustics. Developed low-frequency monitoring arrays that have reduced whale ship-strike fatalities by 62% along the West African corridor.
Lead Genomic Scientist
Computational biologist building the Deep-Genome Biobank. Previously at the Smithsonian. Her eDNA sampling protocols have uncovered 47 previously unknown deep-sea species since 2022.
