Long Season
A sprawling, hypnotic 35-minute dream dub masterpiece from the legendary Tokyo trio. This 1996 original pressing captures Shinji Sato's ethereal vocals floating over Ichiko Hashimoto's rolling basslines and Kin-Ichi Motegi's signature dub percussion. Essential listening for anyone who has ever stood in a Shibuya record shop at midnight.
Kurodo Records opened its doors three blocks from Shibuya Station in the autumn of 1987. The name comes from the old Japanese word for "hidden path" — a reference to the narrow alleyways behind Center Gai where demo tapes used to change hands between musicians.
What started as a single rack of imported punk 7-inches has grown into one of Tokyo's most respected independent record shops. Our basement listening bar, added in 2003, became a gathering place for DJs, producers, and anyone who understands that music sounds different when it comes off vinyl.
We source from collectors across Japan, Europe, and the Americas. Every record that enters our bins has been hand-inspected, cleaned on a Keith Monks machine, and graded to Japanese standards — which means our "Good" would be someone else's "Very Good Plus."
Descend the narrow stairs behind the jazz section and you'll find it — twelve seats, two Technics SL-1200s, a McIntosh amplifier, and speakers that have been breaking in since the bubble era. We serve single-origin coffee, sake from a brewery in Nada, and the slowest, most deliberate listening experience in Tokyo.
